My Grandfather Charles ANDERSON was recruited into the Australian 9th Lighthorse Regiment, AIF in 1914 from Moonta, South Australia. He saw action from the initial landings at Gallipoli and was wounded in August 1915. After repatriation to England and Egypt to recover he was eventually shipped home. After returning to Australia, we believe that he gave two of his three medal group away (1914-15 Star & British War Medal). Our family would dearly like to locate these medals to complete his medal group.

Corps/Service:

Country: United Kingdom
I was given my great uncles medals in about 1959 by George Whiteheads wife, my mothers mothers sister Florence Sarah (nee MacDuff). I remember three of them, I think they were the Victory medal (Roll H/1/102 B9 page 2061), the 1914-1915 Star (Roll H1/33B page 78) and ? British War medal. His military records also seem to record a DCM. He was in the East Lancashire Regiment. Unfortunately at the age of 4 I took the medals to school in Oldham but the teacher confiscated them and my family never got them back! Would dearly love to find them again and give due respect to George & Florence.
