I am searching for the family of Private Thomas TROOD who served with the 4th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. It is possible that his year of birth may have been 1894 (however this is not confirmed - a search of the 1911 Census revealed a man by this name and year of birth who was born in Paddington, London) According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records (CWGC) he was killed in action on the 3rd of May, 1917. As he has no known grave, his name is recorded on the Arras Memorial. Queens South Africa Medal (Boer War medal) awarded to Private Arthur Edward ATKINS of the Australian Army Medical Corps. The medal has two clasps to the ribbon, being "Transvaal" and "South Africa 1902". This medal was offered for sale on the open market on the 27th of August, 2009 but failed to sell. I am looking for the Second World War Medals of James Henry MASLIN, my father who served in the Second AIF and actually has two service numbers. They are VX71718 and VX94049. He first enlisted on the 12th of January, 1942 and served with the 37/52 Infantry Battalion until the 20th of January, 1943. He appears to have re-enlisted on the 11th of January, 1944. On this second occasion, according to the World War Two Nominal Roll - he discharged on the 16th of September, 1947 as part of the Australian M Special Unit. Subsequently, I have a second listing under this earlier service number. Any information to assist my family in recovering this medal would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for my Uncle's medals from World War One. The war medals consist of the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He enlisted in 1917 at the age of 17 in the Royal Irish Fusiliers, in Dundalk Ireland. After his death in 1920 the family emigrated to Australia and no family member recalls ever seeing any of his medals. He enlisted under the name Myles Walsh, but on his grave it is M. WELSH, so not sure which name the medals will be under. I have subsequently made a duplicate listing under the surname of WALSH.

Harry KATEKAR is well known and respected in 'Kokoda' history. He held the rank of Captain and was the Adjutant of the 2/27th Infantry Battalion. His part in the battle for Kokoda was made famous during the battle of Mission Ridge (adjacent to Brigade Hill) and the subsequent efforts of this battalion to return to Australian lines, once cut off by the Japanese. In fact, the 2/27th became known to some as the "Lost Battalion" and their ordeal is an epic tale of Courage, Mateship, Endurance and Sacrifice. These medals were purchased from another collector for $1,900.00 AUD and are being well cared for by the Trekking Company - Kokoda Historical. These war medals will remain safe and valued, in the Kokoda Histoical Collection unless a request is made by the direct family of Harry KATEKAR for their return. The medal set is 'swing mounted' and are still on the original ribbons. It is clear from their normal "wear and tear" that Harry wore these medals at times of commemoration. The set consists of the 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 War Medal (which bears the M.I.D Oak Leaf) and the 1939-1945 Australia Service Medal. He was born on the 29th of June, 1901 in London, England. The World War Two Nominal Roll indicates that he enlisted into the Second AIF on the 29th of May, 1940 and discharged on the 19th of January, 1944. Posting on discharge was the 2/7th Infantry Battalion, AIF.

I am searching for the family of Gunner Albert Leslie SHARP. He was born on the 1st of January, 1909 at Terang in Victoria, Australia. The World War Two Nominal Roll indicates that he enlisted into the Second AIF on the 21st of May, 1940 and discharged on the 15th of August, 1944. His next of kin was recorded as Walter SHARP. Albert served during the Second World War as part of the 2/8 Field Regiment, AIF. I have his Africa Star which is Named and numbered on the rear. I am attempting to locate the descendants of Private George JOSEPHS who served with the 13th Infantry Battalion, AIF (Australian Imperial Force). He was born at North Sydney. The First World War Embarkation Roll indicates that he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Aeneas on the 20th of December, 1915. Sadly, he was killed in action (KIA) on the 28th of August, 1916. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CGWC) records indicate that he is mentioned on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial. He was married to Muriel Ethel JOSEPHS (nee COONEY) whose address at some time was 60 Thomas Street, North Sydney. It also appears that they had a daughter as a result of the marriage. Her name may have been Charlotte Vera JOSEPHS. Muriel is the sister of another soldier who died of illness by the name of John Joseph COONEY. I have another listing for J.J.Cooney on this site. George I believe was also entitled to the 1914-1915 Star, however his service record does not reflect this.
