  • Name: Entering SURNAME only should be sufficient to achieve a result. Initials only of first names, seperated by full stops may be entered. No spaces between the start of the Surname and the full stops: example: J.F.MCGRATH or C.H.TRAYNOR. Apostrophie must be entered e.g. O'REILLY
  • Serial Number: Search by serial number. This is always the best way to find a particular person, but bear in mind that sometimes for various reasons, a serial number may have been changed.
  • Country: Find all medals and militaria based on country
  • Corps: Search by Corps or Service only: i.e. Artillery, Mounted (this includes Cavalry & Lighthorse) Merchant Navy, Air Force, Armoured etc.
  • Unit Number: Enter the unit number ONLY - no other details. i.e. to find all items under the 10th Lighthorse Regiment - simply type in the number 10. If searching for a composite unit such as the 55/53rd Militia Battalion (Australian Military Forces) - simply type in 55/53. NOTE: a number only will yield results for ALL countries.

WHO IS WILLI HUBER? A series of first World War photographs, featuring a German soldier who served during the Great War - by the name of Willi HUBER were purchased from a flea market on the south coast of New South Wales. These photographs (some of which show Willi HUBER and others of battlefield scenes) were contained in a photograph album, but unfortunately the merchant would not sell the entire album and insisted on selling the photographs individually. This meant that only a part of the collection could be purchased by Medals Gone Missing. It is hoped that the descendants of Willi HUBER can be located and the remainder of the photographic collection purchased. The batch of 12 photographs were purchased for $74 AUD from the Dapto Markets on the 19th of June, 2011. If you know any friends or acquaintance by the name HUBER, please enquire as to whether or not Willi HUBER may be a relation. It is possible that one of his descendants immigrated to Australia after the war. PLEASE SEE ARTICLE OF INTEREST - WHO IS WILLI HUBER.

Broken Set - 1914-1915 Star + BWM

Service No: 1372

Unit No: 15

Corps/Service: Infantry

Country: Australia
I am searching for the missing war medals of Corporal Arthur NORTON. These First World War medals consist of the 1914-1915 Star and the British War Medal. They are part of a broken set which was awarded to Corporal A. NORTON of the 15th Infantry Battalion, AIF. Arthur was born in Hartsfordshire, England. According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, Corporal Arthur NORTON embarked aboard HMAT Seang Bee on the 13th of February, 1915 at Port Brisbane. His service number on the First World War Embarkation Roll is listed as 1372A but is simply engraved as '1372' on the actual Victory Medal and this is also reflected by his service record as purchased from the National Archives of Australia. Arthur NORTON landed on Gallipoli on the 9th of May, 1915. Was promoted to Corporal on the Gallipoli Peninsula (on 10th August, 1915) when a corporal within his unit suffered a serious gunshot wound to his arm. Arthur NORTON survived Gallipoli and France and returned to Australia, however he was suffering from wounds received on the Western Front. Any assistance given to help me to reunite these medals as a set would be greatly appreciated.
