First World War Victory Medal
Service No: 203448
Unit No: Northumberland Fusiliers
Corps/Service: Infantry
Country: United Kingdom
I am searching for the family of Private R. STEEL who served during the Great War with the Northumberland Fusiliers. His service number was 203448. I have in my possession, one of his war medals which I have had since the late 70's. It is the First World War Victory Medal which was colloquially called a 'Wilfred', on the front the war medal is embossed with a lady, arms outstretched with wings. On the side is engraved his name, Pte R. Steel and the number 203448. I remember my mother buying it from a pawn shop in Brisbane when I was a child. I would now like to return it to one of his descendants if they could be found. I will only return it to a direct descendant upon proof of relationship.
