Second World War medals (1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 War Medal, 1939-1945 Australia Service Medal) awarded to Gunner Leslie Thomas TANNER who was born on the 5th of January, 1920 at North Sydney in New South Wales. According to the World War Two Nominal Roll, he enlisted into the AIF on the 21st of May, 1940 and was allocated the Service Number NX16035. His next of kin was Bert TANNER. Leslie Thomas TANNER saw service against Rommel in Africa and was one of the 'Rats of Tobruk'. He was sent back to Australia and it is believed that he saw service in New Guinea on the Kokoda Trail. He was wounded in action and sadly he succumbed to his wounds and died on the 4th December, 1943 whilst serving with the 2/6th Field Regiment. According to the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission, he lies buried at the Lae War Cemetery. He was the son of Son of Bertie and Florence Emma Tanner, of North Sydney, New South Wales. These medals were offered for sale on the open market but failed to sell on the 25th of May, 2011. Since I was a child I have in my possession a World War One medal awarded to Corporal A.R. FAULKNER. I would like to hand this war medal over to a true family member of the late Mr. Faulkner. According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, Andrew Ross FAULKNER embarked at Port Sydney on the 8th of August, 1917 aboard HMAT Anchises. At this time, he was a reinforcement for the Tunnelling Companies of the AIF. The British War Medal is stamped on the rim - 7562 CPL. A.R. Faulkner B.G. R.O.C. I am searching for the family of Private Frank SEYMOUR who served during the Boer War (1899 - 1902) and during the First World War. He was born near Bathurst in 1881. According to the Boer War Nominal Roll, Private Frank Seymour was allocated the service number 574 when he served in South Africa in 1901 & 1902 with the 2nd New South Wales Mounted Rifles. In accordance with the First World War Embarkation Roll, he left Port Sydney aboard HMAT Kyarra (A55) on the 13th of April, 1915 as part of the 13th Infantry Battalion, AIF however I believe he may have transferred to the air force (Australian Flying Corps), with the service number 2021. I have listed these medals under his First World War service number and his Boer War service number. Any assistance to locate his family and have the medals returned would be greatly appreciated.

John Stanwell McNAMARA was an 18 year old Clerk from Petersham, Sydney when he enlisted on the 8th of September, 1915. According to the First World War Embarkation Roll, he embarked with 15 Battery, 5th Field Artillery Brigade on the 18th of November, 1915 from Port Sydney aboard HMAT Persic (A34).
