Advanced Search

  • Name: Entering SURNAME only should be sufficient to achieve a result. Initials only of first names, seperated by full stops may be entered. No spaces between the start of the Surname and the full stops: example: J.F.MCGRATH or C.H.TRAYNOR. Apostrophie must be entered e.g. O'REILLY
  • Serial Number: Search by serial number. This is always the best way to find a particular person, but bear in mind that sometimes for various reasons, a serial number may have been changed.
  • Country: Find all medals and militaria based on country
  • Corps: Search by Corps or Service only: i.e. Artillery, Mounted (this includes Cavalry & Lighthorse) Merchant Navy, Air Force, Armoured etc.
  • Unit Number: Enter the unit number ONLY - no other details. i.e. to find all items under the 10th Lighthorse Regiment - simply type in the number 10. If searching for a composite unit such as the 55/53rd Militia Battalion (Australian Military Forces) - simply type in 55/53. NOTE: a number only will yield results for ALL countries.

First World War medals (Military Medal, a 1914/15 Star, a British War Medal and a Victory Medal) awarded to Thomas Henry STRONG. He enlisted on the 20th of August,1914, with the 12th Battalion A Company. He was amongst the first to land at Gallipoli where he remained for 3 months, became seriously ill, repatriated to Australia and discharged. Re-enlisted 19/09/1917 40th Battalion, fought in France and Belgium, wounded in action, repatriated to England and later discharged in Australia. Died in 1932 1 year after my mother was born. Documentation shows that Medals were lost and there doesn't seem to be any application to have them replaced. This has been a 50 year search for the Medals or of any thing that may have belonged to him.
