Advanced Search

  • Name: Entering SURNAME only should be sufficient to achieve a result. Initials only of first names, seperated by full stops may be entered. No spaces between the start of the Surname and the full stops: example: J.F.MCGRATH or C.H.TRAYNOR. Apostrophie must be entered e.g. O'REILLY
  • Serial Number: Search by serial number. This is always the best way to find a particular person, but bear in mind that sometimes for various reasons, a serial number may have been changed.
  • Country: Find all medals and militaria based on country
  • Corps: Search by Corps or Service only: i.e. Artillery, Mounted (this includes Cavalry & Lighthorse) Merchant Navy, Air Force, Armoured etc.
  • Unit Number: Enter the unit number ONLY - no other details. i.e. to find all items under the 10th Lighthorse Regiment - simply type in the number 10. If searching for a composite unit such as the 55/53rd Militia Battalion (Australian Military Forces) - simply type in 55/53. NOTE: a number only will yield results for ALL countries.

Country: Australia
William James Butler - my great-great-uncle - was born in Chiltern and served with the Australian Army for just one year. I have his ASM, which he applied for soon before his death, but he had apparently lost other medals which he had received some time back (presumably only the 39-45 War Medal).

Service No: PM2142

Corps/Service: Navy

Country: Australia
This Second World War medal (1939-1945 Australian Service Medal) was part of a group of six that were awarded to my grandfather, William Robert REDMOND. The World War Two Nominal Roll has him enlisting into the RAN on the 01st of September, 1939 and discharging on the 26th of November, 1945. It is unknown if this medal has become seperated from the other medals or is still mounted as part of a 'set'.
