Hello there Angela, Thank you very much for your reply. You are the first person to make contact and whilst you feel that you may not be a relative of George Green, you may one day make contact with somebody who is through your family research. So I do appreciate your time and interest. Would love to receive the story, once your scanner is returned. Your information helps greatly and I will update the story. Thank you again.
I don't think George Green is one of my relations -at least at the moment he hasn't been tied into the Greens of Southport- but when I saw Hope St. the name rang a bell. In the end I remembered where. I have some sheets among my genealogy work where there is info on Greens killed in WW1. There he was - straight after one of my relatives- Frederick George Green temp. 2nd Lieutenant M.C. attached 1/4th Battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment killed in action 3-10-1918.
It goes on to tell the story (when I get my scanner back I can send it to you if you like) and that he was the husband of Mrs Green of 3, Hope street Southport.
Just to tidy up the Georgie from the postcard I went to BMD and found an entry for Frederick George's marriage to Lily Griffiths sept qtr 1910 and a birth for George (mother's maiden name Griffiths) 1911

Hope this has been of help.

Best wishes
