The missing First World War medals of Private James WHELAN, Service Number 14976 are being sought by his descendants.
The missing war medals consist of the British War Medal and Victory Medal as awarded to the majority of British Commonwealth troops for service during the First World War.
The British War Medal and Victory Medal similar to that awarded to James WHELAN. It is hoped a very kind collector may consider selling these medals back to the family.

He is perhaps the only person who has been employed at the Australian War Memorial in all three capacities .... as a volunteer, part time and full time employee .... starting as a qualified tour guide, working in the public galleries as an Information Assistant and finally Assistant Curator in Military Heraldry & Technology.
