Medal Type:
Service No: CH/24541
Unit No: MV Pacific President

Corps/Service:
Marine Corps

Country: United Kingdom
I am trying to locate the 1939-1945 Star, Atlantic Star & 1939-1945 War Medal for CH/24541 Royal Marine, Harold Leslie Vernon PARKIN, which I know was issued to my Grandmother after his death. He was killed in action on the 2nd of December, 1940 when the merchant vessel Pacific President was torpedoed and sunk by the U Boat-U43. During his time as a DEMS Gunner with the merchant convoys he survived the attack on convoy HX-72, at that time he was aboard the SS Dalcairn, luckily all of the crew survived. He was the Son of Mary Elizabeth and Mark William PARKIN, and is mentioned on the Chatham Naval Memorial. Although I lost my Father in 2008, I know he would be very proud if I were able to recover his Brother's medals and have them returned to our family, so I would be very grateful for any assistance in helping me find this Medal. Whilst they may not be engraved with his name, they may still be contained in the original box in which they were mailed to Harold after the war.

Service No: VX89967
Unit No: 2/106

Country: Australia
The 9th Division medals of my father, Walter Malcolm MITCHELL were recently sold on ebay. They are the 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, 1939-1945 War Medal & the 1939-1945 Australia Service Medal. I only found them when it was too late and have contacted the seller but no response. My father passed away over 40 years ago and the medals haven't been seen for many years. We are desperate to get them back and if possible find out where they have been. We will happily pay for them and pay costs. He was a very special man, these medals would delight his grandchildren who never met him but know his history well. He became a very competent race car driver and astute businessman and sadly died racing in 1967. Please help we don't have a lot of mementos of his life.
