I am searching for the missing war medals of Frederick RAWLINGS who served with the 31st Battalion (8th Brigade, 5th Division - Australian Imperial Force). Frederick was posthumously awarded the 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He was killed in the battle of Fromelles 19/7/1916 and listed on the VC Corner memorial as missing for 90 years. He is one of the diggers identified at the Pheasant Wood mass grave and now lies in the Fromelles (Pheasant Wood) cemetery (Grave III A 6). His sister received his medals in 1923 but their whereabouts are now unknown. He was my great grandfather's brother (on my mothers side). His descendants would love to have his medals back. His brother Sydney was killed in France 11/7/1918 and lies in Borre New British Cemetery - we have his medals. Any assistance in helping my family to recover these missing medals would be greatly appreciated.
