The First World War Medals posthumously awarded to Alexander David MURRIE have just been purchased by Medals Gone Missing. This finally reunites the medal set with the Memorial Plaque commissioned to commemorate his unfortunate death. Lance Corporal Alexander David MURRIE served with the 8th Infantry Battalion in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). As stated, he sadly lost his life during the Great War and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records indicate he lies buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, United Kingdom. Alexander David MURRIE was the son of Andrew T. and Jeannie Gray Murrie, of "Uddingston," Bayswater, Victoria, Australia. Native of Uddingston, Scotland. The First World War Embarkation Roll states that when he left Australia aboard HMAT Hororata (A20) on 17 April, 1915 his service number was 1982.
